Taking up the grass in backyard?
Our backyard is a disgrace. We found out the house was built on an old forest area and as a result we're getting vegetation only found in swamps. The water pooled so we spent almost $6,000 adding a french drain, putting in weeping tiles, regrading the yard, putting in new sod and adding a rock laneway. Yet despite this the yard is still all weeds after the winter and no matter what we do with it we can't get rid of the weeds or grass to grow. We're now thinking of taking up the grass altogether and making it a functional space with concrete, stones and little planters. The problem is I'm not handy nor is anyone in my family. Who would be a good contact to redo the backyard and what ideas would make sense. We have a large wood deck right now but I have no problem taking that down too. We live in Pickering, Ontario.
one thing to consider doing is making a nice paver stone patio and landscape around it with various plants that grow in your area.
